About Us

Chuck Myers started out with humble beginnings and worked as a coal miner in Helena. We now have the shovel he used in the mines in the shop and recently had it hand painted with our store name.  He and his wife, Ruby Myers opened Myers Plants and Pottery in 1971 as an antique store with items Chuck found along his Greyhound bus route to Mobile. Within a short period of time they started carrying pottery and eventually plants. Though he passed away in 1982, we keep his memory alive with his old 1954 Chevy in the garden center and decorate it for every season. Chuck originally sold his car, but the man he sold it to if he wanted to buy it back in 2003. They happily accepted his offer and now it is proudly displayed in the garden center. Over the years the store evolved and grew into the true Alabama destination it has become today, a treasure trove of plants, pottery and garden art as well as koi fish and a unique gift shop with new items arriving daily. Today, Nancy and Stewart Myers carry on the tradition of providing the best in plants, pottery, and garden supplies. They continue to offer unmatched customer service and professional advice. Come see for yourself the many treasures you'll find at Myers Plants & Pottery. It is truly an Alabama destination since 1971.
